Last week I did the following:
Monday: Walked 3 miles
Tuesday: Rest day
Wednesday: Walked 3 miles
Thursday: Jogged 2 miles
Friday: Rest day
Saturday: Jogged 2 miles
Weigh in: +38.5
It is becoming much easier to walk/jog more everyday. My ankles don't hurt nearly as much as they used to, and I jogged almost the entire 2 miles on Saturday. I think that we only ate out on the weekend this week, but I did eat a whole lot of cookies and ice cream almost everyday. I think I need to eat more little snacks during the day. My goal for this week is to make it until Friday without having sugar snacks. And I'm serious this time. lol. I am getting a little bit frustrated because I thought that I would be doing much better considering how much activity I have been doing. I do feel a lot better though, so I should just focus on that.

Happy yet Sad
Weigh in today was a little disheartening. I have gained a pound. So I am at +39.5 pounds. I walked two miles on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Hubby and I then both went on a two mile jog on Saturday. We didn't eat the best though. We had Burger King on Monday, and Wendys on Tuesday and Friday. Saturday, we had McDonalds for breakfast and Kentucky Fried Chicken for Lunch/Dinner. We also ate a lot of butterfinger ice cream. So yeah, this weeks goal is to only eat out once! We really can't afford eating out that much anyway. It just gets so tempting. I have noticed that I have been twice as hungry these last couple of weeks, and nothing sounds better than a nice juicy burger and fries. lol. Anyway, the good news is that I have noticed that my clothes are fitting better. Even though I haven't been losing the weight like I've wanted, I'm still happy that things aren't as snug. I'm already off to a good start this week, so I hope I will finally have a week of meeting my goal!!

Another Week Down
So this week I have been so good. I did my workout video on Tuesday, lifted weights for upper body on Wednesday, walked 2 miles on Thursday, did my workout video on Friday, and walked another two miles on Saturday. I was also really good about cutting down what I ate, except for Saturday. lol. I was so excited to weigh myself and...I lost 0.4 of a pound....are you serious?! Anyway, I should probably look at it as losing 1400 calories. Yeah, that sounds better. Anyway, I am at + 38.6 pounds. I'm glad that I am improving, and I'm going to work more on cutting out the sweets this week.

Weekly update
Ok, so I kind of sucked last week. lol. I was really good with my eating Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but forget the rest of the week. Saturday and Sunday were just plain awful as far as sweets go. :S I did go for a 3 mile walk on Monday. However, when I was just a few blocks away from home my foot started hurting pretty bad. I did not do any further exercise for the rest of the week. Blah. I am also feeling so not motivated to do anything. Arg, oh well. As far as weigh in, I am at +39. Yes! I lost a pound! lol. I did not meet my 2 pound goal, but considering how bad I was last week, I very happy.

New Weightloss/Half-Marathon Training Blog
I had to make this new blog for a class that I took last semester. I have decided that I am going to turn this into my new weight-loss and training blog. Greg and I definately fell off of the wagon for the holidays, but we will be back in full-swing on Monday.
Half-Marathon Goal: By June be able to make it 13 miles; walking no more than half of the time.
Weight loss Goals: Ultimate goals is to lose 40 pounds by June. The smaller goals are to lose two pound per week & 8-10 pounds per month. I will be keeping track of food and exercise everyday, and weighing myself every Monday.
Yea, kick butt!

My Beliefs
I watched a video last year in my Intro to Education class. It showed a very poor school with leaky pipes and access to only one computer. They then showed a wealthy school that had a laptop for every student, a science lab, and many more accessories. They interviewed students from both schools. The student from the poor school had never used a computer. He asked how he would ever get a job; even McDonalds uses computers. A student from the other school had a full-ride scholarship, and had already taken some college classes. What was the main difference between the schools? Technology.
If you would have asked me my beliefs about using technology in the classroom three days ago , I would have said that it can be used when it is convenient. It is simply there to help you, the teacher. Today I say don‘t only use it whenever you can, show your students how to use it. Technology can help you to show examples in any subject, and help to make your job easier. Most of all, it can help a student to learn more for their future. I didn’t realize how that video last year was tied to technology until I started reading articles and watching videos for this assignment. We are preparing students for jobs that are not even around today. They need as much of a head-start with technology as we can give them.

Lessons Learned
There were two things that stuck out to me the most from watching and reading the information. The first thing was that it is a teacher’s responsibility to be teaching about technology. The article talked about there being technology everywhere, and a lot of kids are left on their own to figure it out. Of course that is not the best option. As teachers, we should take on the responsibility to become familiar with technologies. This way we can teach the students the best way to utilize it. On one of the Youtube videos the guy talked about how most parents are afraid of technology. I think it’s important not to let our fears keep us from a valuable skill.
The other thing that stuck out to me was that we are preparing students for jobs that probably don’t even exist yet. That was a great point to make. We are advancing so much, and so quickly. Things are only going to get more technical as time goes by. Again, we should be prepared and educated so that we can pass that on to our students. Everything I read made me realize the need for me to learn more about using technology.
